School of Integrative Biology

Honours information

Welcome to Honours at the School of Biological Sciences

Our School provides the opportunity to undertake research in a large range of biological topics under the guidance of a supervisor. A wide selection of projects is on offer each year.

Honours is a challenging year in which you develop and demonstrate your capabilities for critical thought and independent research within the broad area of biology. The year will be rewarding as you have the independence to develop and implement your own ideas in a research project in your area of interest.

The Honours program will equip you with the skills needed to design and undertake a research project. It develops advanced laboratory and field research skills and provides essential training in oral and written communication. An Honours degree both provides entry to a research higher degree (MPhil or PhD) and broadens your skill base for a range of other vocations.
