The Bing Overseas Program at Stanford University Australia Program
The University of Queensland has been working with Stanford University’s Bing Overseas Program since 2003. The program includes courses in Coral Reef Ecology, Coastal Forest Ecosystems, and Australian Studies. You will also get to complete a targeted research project which will be supervised by a University of Queensland faculty member.
Upon arrival in Sydney you will spend some time getting to know the University of Queensland staff and your class mates as you start to explore Australia. Your program will take you to some of the most amazing, unique and pristine ecosystems anywhere in the world.
You will enjoy the iconic cultural and historical elements of Australia’s largest city, Sydney, as part of your Australian Studies program
You will also visit amazing terrestrial environments including the spectacular rainforests of Far North Queensland. While completing your studies you will also get an authentic outback cattle station experience at Wetherby Station which was established in 1878.
You will spend time studying Coral Reef Ecology in the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) World Heritage Area at the University of Queensland’s Heron Island Research Station.
You will conduct research on mangroves and sea grasses in Australia’s first urban marine park at the Moreton Bay Research Station.
Read about what Libby and Kristen, some students who have been on the program last year thought of their Australian adventure.
